* Bisphenol A is used as a primary monomer in polycarbonate plastic that can leach from plastic products. Environmental groups and scientific studies have suggested that BPA poses a potential human and animal health risk, as it has been shown to cause developmental toxicity, cancer-causing effects, and possible nerve toxicity.
