There’s been a discussion on my email group (email@example.com, please join if you’re not currently a member!) about which heartworm preventive medication is best to give…while there are several good ones on the market, my current choice is iverheart which we prescribe for our patients….keep the following point in mind when purchasing heartworm preventive…the manufacturers of these products guarantee their products are so effective that your pet will not develop heartworms when taking them as prescribed…if the pet develops heartworms, the manufacturer will pay for the cost of diagnosis and treatment IF you purchase the product from your veterinarian AND you administer it monthly. The veterinarian will need to produce medical records to verify these points.
